Monday, January 9, 2017

The 2017 Rossi Prize was awarded to Gabriela Gonzalez of Louisana State University and the LIGO Scientific Collaboration for the direct detection of gravitational waves and the use of these waves to reveal merging binary black holes.  This work opens an entirely new window for investigating high-energy astrophysical phenomena in the Universe.

The Rossi Prize is awarded annually in honor of Bruno Rossi “for a significant contribution to High Energy Astrophysics, with particular emphasis on recent, original work.”
