The effect of supernova mechanisms on gravitational-wave sources

Abstract:
Double neutron stars (DNSs) have been observed as Galactic radio pulsars, and the discovery of gravitational waves from the DNS merger GW170817 adds to the known DNS population. I do population synthesis of double compact objects using the COMPAS suite. I analyze the effect of different supernova mechanisms on the distribution of orbital parameters of DNSs. In addition, I show the binary neutron star and binary black hole chirp mass distributions as observed by LIGO.
