John Brewer, a postdoc currently working at Yale with Debra Fischer, will be visiting MKI on Thursday, September 29, 2016. John recently published a catalog of spectroscopic parameters for ~2000 stars with a technique he developed and calibrated against asteroseismic data to give a much-needed improvement in spectroscopic surface gravity measurements. He’s a founding member of Planet Hunters, and a guru for the group on everything from computer system administration to data reduction code. John also developed “CHIRON TOOLS”, an integrated web-based software suite for target scheduling and observing.
John will give a half hour presentation during our weekly exoplanet tea meeting (Thursdays, from 3-4pm in 54-824) which I encourage folks to attend! John will also be at MKI throughout the day, so if you’re interested in meeting with him, please add your name to his schedule, accessible here:
