Abstract:
Outflows in galaxies, triggered by star formation, can be understood through a number of observable properties of which the soft X-ray emission is one.  We have studied these properties using 3D hydrodynamic simulations of a Milky-Way type galaxy through injection of mass and energy as a result of supernovae explosion from OB associations distributed in the disk.  We find filamentary structures in the outflows created by clumps of disk gas being uplifted with the gas that is injected.  We find that these clumps are also the sites of bow shocks around them, which contribute significantly to the soft X-ray emission.  The mass distribution in the outflows is bimodal in temperature peaking at 104-5 and 106-7K.
