Film screening and talk featuring GRAVITY, a 1985 documentary about the work of Dr. Rainer Weiss and the MIT astrophysics laboratory in researching the detection of gravitational waves. The film offers a personal and candid perspective from a filmmaker attempting to observe and understand gravitational wave astrophysics, and rare peek into the earlier days of this influential lab.
The screening takes place on Monday, March 20 at 7pm at the Brattle Theatre (40 Brattle Street, Cambridge) as part of a program featuring several films by Mary Jane Doherty, Associate Professor of Film at BU and a graduate of the MIT Film/Video Section. The discussion will feature a conversation with both Dr. Weiss and Professor Doherty.
