Professor of Physics
Professor Ed Bertschinger’s research mission is to develop and apply analytical, computational, and statistical methods to improve our understanding of the physical universe. He and his students work in gravitation, cosmology, numerical methods, and chaotic dynamics. He is equally passionate about equity and inclusion in the STEM fields and is pursuing research on effective practices for academic departments. In addition to his physics faculty appointment, he is a faculty affiliate in the MIT Program in Women’s and Gender Studies.
