Marc obtained his PhD from UNSW Sydney, after which he worked at the University of Hawaii as a NASA Hubble Fellow. His research specializes in asteroseismology and studies of variable stars in the Milky Way. To this end, Marc uses novel machine learning methods to survey and analyze the pulsations of a vast number of stars observed by planet hunting mission such as Kepler and TESS. He leads efforts to map the history of our Galaxy using the vibration of stars and has a strong interest in Galactic archeology. Given that the fates of planets are tied to their host stars, Marc studies the ages and evolution of exoplanetary systems using asteroseismology. He is interested in using precision photometry from TESS to focus on the best and the brightest planet hosts near us, which are prime targets for searches for habitable worlds.
