Megan is a graduate student working with Professor Erin Kara to study how black holes grow and affect their surroundings. She uses X-ray observations of extragalactic transients like tidal disruption events and changing-look AGN to study extreme accretion physics around supermassive black holes. Prior to coming to MIT, she graduated from Case Western Reserve University in 2019 with bachelor’s degrees in physics and astronomy and from the University of Cambridge in 2020 with a master’s degree in astrophysics.
