Nikhil is a postdoctoral associate at MIT Kavli – LIGO Laboratory and a junior investigator at IAIFI. He contributes to commissioning and characterizing gravitational-wave interferometers and uses AI to create ‘smarter’ GW detectors. His interests include developing deep reinforcement learning based rapid decision-making infrastructures for LIGO and next-generation GW detectors like Cosmic Explorer. He was previously at the Albert Einstein Institute in Hannover, Germany, and carried out his doctoral studies at the Inter-university Centre for Astronomy & Astrophysics (IUCAA) in Pune, India.
