Bautz Group: X-ray Instrumentation and Observations
Our group encompasses a range of scientific, instrumentation, and engineering interests. Led by Mark Bautz, we are currently engaged in developing and testing next-generation X-ray imagers for future NASA missions from Explorer to Flagship class; understanding the cosmic ray particle environment for future missions like Athena and exploring background mitigation strategies; and studying the evolution and structure of groups and clusters of galaxies and the tenuous intergalactic medium.
