Avi Shporer is a Research Scientist working with the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) mission. Previously Avi was a Sagan Postdoctoral Fellow at NASA JPL, a Postdoctoral Scholar at Caltech, and a Postdoctoral Fellow at LCO (formerly named LCOGT).
Avi’s research stretches from exoplanets to binary stars and he is broadly interested in time-domain astronomy. Avi is especially interested in the study of orbital phase curves, which was only recently enabled by high-quality time series photometry obtained by space-based surveys. He is currently working with the TESS mission to discover nearby exoplanets that will be the best targets for detailed characterization studies.
